Litany for those facing injustice, slander, and false imprisonment (written in response to the Trial of
Jesus before the Sanhedrin, Mark 14:53-65)
Lord, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.
Lord Jesus, by your unjust arrest, by your silence in the face of false accusation, and by your telling of
the truth when it mattered most:
Save us, Lord Jesus. Save us, good Lord.
By your torture, imprisonment, and death,
Save us, Lord Jesus. Save us, good Lord.
By your rising and ascending; by your enthronement at the right hand of the Father, and by your just
judgment,
Save us, Lord Jesus. Save us, good Lord.
For the safety of all who are forcibly arrested, for the freedom of all who are falsely imprisoned, and
for all whose fate lies in the hands of powerful people who do not care for others,
Lord Jesus, hear us. Lord, hear our prayer.
For those who are tortured and beaten; for those who take a stand for their Christian faith; for those
fleeing persecution and war:
Lord Jesus, hear us. Lord, hear our prayer.
For those who bear false witness, that they may repent; for those who hear false witness, that they
may defend the voiceless; and for those who are falsely accused, that they may put themselves in
your hands:
Lord Jesus, hear us. Lord, hear our prayer.
For those in government and positions of power, that they may use their power in the service of
others; and for citizens fo countries, that they may pray for their governments and respect lawful
authority:
Lord Jesus, hear us. Lord, hear our prayer.
For all Christians, that instead of justifying ourselves, we may place our reputations in your hands
and under your good and gracious judgment:
Lord Jesus, hear us. Lord, hear our prayer.
Lord, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.
