I was there

at the very beginning of God’s work:

the first work, the act, the first move!

      We praise you Christ – the wisdom of God!

I was there from eternity, from the beginning,

before the world began.

      We praise you Christ – the wisdom of God!

Before the oceans, I was there,

When water wasn’t yet invented,

before the mountains were made,

I was there.

     We praise you Christ – the wisdom of God!

Before God made the soil

or the first of the dust of the world.

When God established the heavens,

I was there.

     We praise you Christ – the wisdom of God!

I was there

when God invented the horizon,

when God placed the clouds and rivers,

and when land was divided from sea.

    We praise you Christ – the wisdom of God!

I was filled with delight day after day,

rejoicing always in God’s presence,

rejoicing in the whole world

and delighting in humankind.

    We praise you Christ – the wisdom of God!

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 

As it was in the beginning is now and will be forever.
